Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava has said that efforts are being made to connect Nepal's citizen app and India's Aadhaar card in such a way that they can be interoperable in each other's countries.
In a program organized to inform about the second edition of Nepal-India Startup Connect organized by the Indian Embassy in Nepal on Friday, Shrivastava expressed his opinion that if citizens of Nepal and India can connect the Aadhaar card and the citizen app, they can easily travel between each other's countries.
Entrepreneurs, investors and policy makers have said that the goal of this event is to connect the startup ecosystems of the two countries. In the event, Ambassador Srivastava mentioned that Nepali companies have reached the level of creating VR for Disney and being listed on the New York Stock Exchange, which indicates that Nepal is a fertile ground for startups and information technology companies.
'Nepalese startups are doing well, especially in the fields of financial technology, transportation, e-commerce,' Srivastava said, 'more than 100 startups in India have become very successful i.e. unicorns.' Shrivastava mentioned the fact that the Indian government is actively supporting the startups of his country and also said that the possibility of cooperation between the startups of the two countries is increasing. In the
program, Shrivastava gave an example of the cross-border payment system between the two countries and mentioned that such technology is very convenient for Indian tourists and has further strengthened the economic relationship with Nepal.
