Barpak road has not been completed for 9 years

The construction work on the last two sections of the Barpak connecting road, which started 9 years ago, has been stalled for a long time. Locals of Dhulamme road are in trouble when the work of the last two sections of the contract, which is expected to be completed within 2075, has stalled. Locals from Dharche Rural Municipality-4 Laprak, Ward-5 Gumda along with Barpak have been coming and going through this road.

The 46.6 km road from Bahrkilo to Barpak was divided into four sections and the contract was awarded. 5 km of the initial section and 5 km of the 17 to 22 km section have been blacked out. The 12 km stretch of the road leading to Barpak from Masanethanti to Nivel Khare falls under Madhyapahari Lokmarg. The section has also been blacklisted.

22 to 30 km from Arkul to Dhodeni and the last section from Baluwa to Barpak 30 to 46 km has been stalled. In 9 years, the overall progress of the road is 90 percent. Lohani and Brothers, which has taken responsibility for the 8 km road from Arkul to Dhodeni, has been lying idle for years.

Amindra Khadka, the head of Gorkha road plan Gorkha, said that the contractor company did not come to the site in the current financial year. In that section, it is mentioned that the work should be completed by June 15, 2074 when the contract is signed on June 31, 2072.

"The physical progress of the said section is 80 percent, but the black paper has also been removed," said Khadka, the head of the office, "We have corresponded ten times to start the work, but the contractor did not come to work."

Khadka says that due to the negligence of the builders, the work has come to a standstill. The term of the contract has been extended up to 7 times. If the work is not done, the office is preparing to break the contract for the section from Arkul to Dhodeni.

Under the Barpak road section, the work of the last section from Baluwa to Barpak has been completed 90 percent. Khadka said that there is now 1,500 meters of black paper left in this section of the 30 to 46 km area. When the contractor company Rasuwa/Elite/Surya JV signed the contract on June 26, 2073, it is mentioned that 16 kilometers of road can be paved within June 13, 2075.

The deadline for this section, which has been extended several times, is last extended until next June. "This section has both slope and blacktop," he said. Jit Bahadur Ghale of Barpak said that this year, due to lack of rain, the dust has created a nuisance.
