Residents of Pokhedanda in Sandhikhark Municipality-6 Narapani are building homestays by changing the general appearance of traditional mud houses. They are building infrastructure in crude houses like guest rooms, improved beds, separate kitchens.

So far 7 houses have been made habitable. It can accommodate 40 people. Inside the room, there is a clean bed, a thick bed on the floor. Single bed rooms and family accommodation are available. Villagers have organized themselves to build a community homestay.

There has been a wave of homestay construction in the village targeting the tourists coming to the religious tourist places of Supadeurali and Narpani of Nartananjal mountain. From Pokhedanda village, two km from Narpani, you can see the mountains and snow ranges all around, including the Nartanachal mountain.

"I have made two rooms for guests," said Bhuvansingh Darlami, president of the Supadeurali Pokhedanda Community Homestay Committee, "I lived in Malaysia for 12 years. After making a homestay at home, I wanted to start a tourism venture here and decided not to go abroad.'

Employees from Butwal, Dang, Sandhikhark, working in different areas started contacting him, he said. He is also raising local chickens on the farm. They are preparing to produce vegetables, food items, fruits. He said that there is a discussion about producing food crops of Raithane breed including Khasiboka and local chicken in the village.

'We are studying the crops and fruits produced here by making the guests sit in the gundri and serving local chicken and Khasi Jhol dishes,' he said, 'We are in a comprehensive plan, the work has progressed to make all the families who cook at home self-employed through tourism promotion. '

They have already learned how to cook food. Instantly, the guests staying at the homestay can eat dishes such as Sisne soup, Chankhla kheer, Saag pakoda, Corn biscuits, Farsi balls, Banana batuk, Local chicken roast and Jhol. Similarly, you can eat apple cocktail, millet celery roti, phapar cake. There is a majority of Magar settlements in Pokhedanda. Homestay committee secretary Maniram Acharya said that artists have also been prepared to show the Magar community's art culture and dance to the guests.

'Now 7 homestays have been built to accommodate guests,' he said, 'the construction process is increasing. We are turning the entire village of Pokhedanda into a homestay village. We have started cultivating the fields that are barren to grow Raithana crops.'

Hundreds of pilgrims come to Supa Deurali every day. Some take prasad in Narpani, forget it. Recently, the number of Indian tourists is increasing in Narpani. He said that a homestay was built in the village to accommodate them. Adding a floor to the narrow house, creating a room around it is going on. Locals are actively building homestays according to the purpose and goal of tasting the taste of rural tourism.

The concept of homestay is to provide hospitality to the guests who have come to visit the village with darshan and narapani in their home, feed them what they cook and make sleeping arrangements and charge a small fee.

"Pokhedanda is a beautiful village, Narpani and Supadeurali have become a tourist hub," said Khimanand Bhusal, Chief Administrative Officer of Sandhikhark Municipality, "We have asked the locals to build a homestay for the guests who come there to eat easily and cheaply." We have trained the villagers about homestay construction, operation, hospitality and service to guests.'

The aim of the homestay operation in Pokhedanda is to create employment opportunities for families staying at home in the village, to increase agricultural production and prevent migration, and to make good use of barren land, Sandhikhark Municipality Chief Krishna Prasad Shrestha said.

"We have launched a program to open up the agriculture and animal husbandry farms that produce food dishes along with cultural entertainment," he said, "The goal is to make the village economically prosperous through tourism." This will connect the surrounding villages, including Pokhedanda, to agriculture and tourism business, and employment opportunities will be created. He claims that if only 10 percent of the tourists who come to visit Supadeurali and Narpani can be accommodated in homestays, the economic situation in the village will change.
