Belybridge connection has been started from Sunday in the Liping river of the Tatopani channel, which was washed away by the flood of last October. Kumar Shrestha, Chairman of Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-2, said that the foundation and slopes have been dried on both sides and the belay bridge has been installed since Saturday.

According to the Divisional Road Office Charikot, the target is to be connected in five days with the technical support of the Nepali Army. Last October, floods in the Liping River and Bhotekoshi washed away the motorable bridge, the Belybridge, here. Shortly after the flood, Larcharma Humepipe was placed and traffic was brought into operation. Ward president Shrestha said that Belibridge is about to be installed in Liping.

"After the Humepipe and Beilibridge connection, traffic will increase at the border," he said. Earlier, traffic was brought into operation by connecting a dirt road from the corner of Leaping Bridge. Chief District Officer Kiran Thapa said that the checkpoint was closed from January 6 to 25 according to the informal discussion between Nepal and China officials.

"The work of connecting the Beilibridge is going on at the gate, also on the Chinese side, tunnel and road reconstruction work is going on," he said. According to Amit Shrestha, Head of Divisional Road Office Charikot, Lipping and Larcharma roads were built by placing hump pipes and laying them with stone and clay. "In a few days, we will start the traffic after completing the Belybridge connection," he said.

Import from Tatopani is currently stopped. The Chinese container business has issued a notice not to carry goods at present. Businessmen say that the transporters and business centers have been instructed by the government. After the earthquake, aftershocks and landslides, when efforts were being made to open the border, on 21 June 2073, the Bhotekoshi flood washed away 80 houses along the road and border, and the Kodari highway became a disaster.

In 2074, the motorable bridge at Larcha, built by a Chinese company, was blocked and swept away by a dry landslide. The baileybridge was installed shortly thereafter. The bridge connecting Liping Bazar, which was only damaged in previous monsoons, was completely swept away by the flood of Liping River last October.
