An agreement has been reached between the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation and the German Technical Cooperation Organization (GIZ Nepal) on the renewable energy and energy efficiency program implementation document.

The Second Revised Implementation Agreement of Recovery and Empowerment through Sustainable Energy (REEP-Green) Program in Nepal was signed in a program held in Lalitpur on Friday.

On January 23, 2024, the technical cooperation agreement signed between Nepal and the German government has also been formalized. Along with this, Nepal will receive German technical assistance and financial assistance worth 6 million euros by GIZ. In addition, a three-year extension of the project has also been agreed.

Energy Secretary Suresh Acharya said that this program has been implemented for four years and with the addition of an additional three-year agreement, it will help a lot in the development of green energy promotion in Nepal. This project focuses on strengthening policies and institutional structures related to renewable energy and energy efficiency at the national, provincial and local levels. It is believed that the revision of the REEP-Green Implementation Agreement by this agreement will further expand the project, which will accelerate Nepal's development towards clean and sustainable energy, according to the three agencies.  The

program was attended by Minister of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka, Head of Delegation of the European Union for Nepal Jose Luis Vinuesa-Santamaria, Deputy Head of the German Embassy in Kathmandu Benjamin Sidel and other high officials.
