Electricity supply day started in Pokhara through underground distribution system

The Nepal Electricity Authority has started supplying electricity to the tourist city of Pokhara through an underground distribution system. As part of the Pokhara-Bharatpur Distribution System Strengthening Project, the work of undergrounding, strengthening and automating the electricity distribution system (wires) has been completed and electricity supply has been started to the customers of the area through the same system.

In the first phase, the distribution line from Pokhara's Kundahar 132/11 KV substation to the West through Amarsingh Chowk, Buddhachowk to the Seti Nadi bridge section has been underground and electricity has been supplied to about three hundred customers in that area.

In coordination with the Mugling-Pokhara road extension project, the transmission and distribution system has been underground and the overhead lines and poles have been removed. Initially, the distribution system up to Kundahar substation was planned to be underground, but later it was extended to the main entrance of the airport so that the passengers would not have to see the city made ugly by tangled wires upon exiting the Pokhara International Airport .

Authority Executive Director Kulman Ghisingh monitored the work of making the distribution system underground and instructed to gradually provide electricity to the completed areas and remove the overhead structures .

Executive Director Ghising monitored the work being done in Pokhara's main tourist area, lakeside, airport, etc. Ghising instructed the Gandaki regional office chief and project executive director to immediately complete the rest of the lakeside work in coordination with the Metropolitan Municipality, road office and other agencies and provide electricity through the underground system.
