AI cannot make humans useless: Prime Minister Oli

Mentioning that artificial intelligence (AI) is an important achievement of science and technology, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that it should be used properly. He also emphasized that it is not true that AI makes humans useless.

Speaking at the opening session of the eighth 'Nepal Chamber Expo' at the Bhrikuti Mandap on Thursday, Oli pointed out that there is a danger of misusing AI to spread misleading information in the society. "It is possible to make a video of me dancing," he said.

"The concern of some is that AI makes humans useless," he said, "Its entire command is in the hands of humans, after disconnecting it, all its fun stops ." Being created, directed and controlled by humans, AI cannot destroy human society . It should be utilized . Should be used for convenience.'

He was of the opinion that if AI is utilized, it will facilitate human labor and intellectual capacity . Oli said that although the use of technology will have a positive effect on various sectors of the society, we should be aware of its misuse. "False, misleading information can spoil the society, making it difficult to distinguish between right and wrong," he said,  "That's why AI should be used carefully."

Prime Minister Oli said that the IT sector is not just a discussion but has become an integral and important part of business, industry and our daily life. Speaking about the economic development of Nepal, he mentioned that industry, trade, production and export have been affected due to political instability in the last few years.

"From that negative impact, we want to return the economy and society to a rhythm in a timely manner, make it dynamic and from next year we want to bring it from an underdeveloped country to a middle-income country from 2026," said Prime Minister Oli, "but our income level is at a low level". We have to change this situation. We all have to get involved in this matter.'
