According to the Ministry of Finance, 12 people have applied for the vacant chairmanship of Nepal Insurance Authority. After the authority registered a case against the previous chairman Surya Silwal, he was automatically suspended from the post.

Along with that, the recommendation committee formed under the coordination of Vice Chairman Shivraj Adhikari of the National Planning Commission for the appointment of the vacant chairman of the authority called for applications with a deadline of 15 days on January 26. Kamal Prasad Regmi, Devraj Roka, Sharad Ojha, Chiranjeevi Chapagai, Bishnuwavu Mishra, Wuddha Kazi Shrestha, Damodar Vasaula, Dim Prasad Paudel, Ram Sharan Pudashaini, Vikrant Pandey, Raman Nepal and Vinod Kazi Shrestha have applied for the post of

president. In the notice issued by the

committee, there is a provision that for the post of president, at least a master's degree in insurance, monetary, banking, commerce, management, public administration, statistics, mathematics, economics or law should be obtained. At least five years of high managerial work experience in the relevant field is required.

Similarly, having a high moral character, not exceeding the age of 30 years and not exceeding the age of 65 years, not being involved in corruption, money laundering, human trafficking, drug dealing, crimes related to antiquities or protected wild animals, or other criminal offenses showing moral degradation are specified.
