The National Identity Card has been made 'live' in the Citizen App. From Tuesday afternoon, the national identity card will be visible within the citizen app. With the completion of the integration process between the citizen app and the national identity card, the identity card has come to the app. 'National ID' option can be seen inside the app. After pressing on it and putting your ID card number, the app and the ID card will be 'synchronized' and the ID card will appear.
The Cabinet meeting on November 2 gave approval for the inter-affiliation. The Department of Information Technology and the Department of National Identity Cards and Registration have informed that a technical test has been conducted to maintain the interconnection between the National Identity Card Management Information System and the Citizen App. After all the necessary tests, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the National Identity Card and the Citizen App.
According to the Department of Information Technology, about 5.5 million users have downloaded the Citizen app at present. 49 lakh 10 thousand 596 on Android, 6 lakh 12 thousand 115 on iOS and 23 hundred 27 on the web. Currently, 62 services and information from 32 agencies are included in the app.
Through the National Identity Management Information System, the details of more than 16.5 million citizens have been collected and more than 60 million identity cards have been printed so far, the department informed. Out of this, 55 lakh cards have been sent to different districts, while only 20 lakh cards have been distributed so far. Apart from Mugu, Dolpa and Humla Details of citizens for identity cards have been collected from all over the country.
MPs raised questions in the parliamentary committee last week about the delay in the distribution of identity cards. Yuvraj Kattel, director general of the registration department, said that the number of the identity card will be available and the digital copy will be available in the citizen app. He had also expressed the intention that the card had been printed and wasted.
