The Federation of Nepal Construction Professionals has warned that the government is indifferent to solving the existing problems of the construction industry.
In a press conference on Wednesday, Federation President Ravi Singh informed that the movement is going to be held according to the mandate given by the national meeting held in the capital on January 27. Announcing the 14-point demand as passed by the meeting, Chairman Singh said that the movement was not their desire but a compulsion. According to the program of the movement declared as
, the federation is going to submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, Ministers, presidents of various political parties, and related federal government agencies from January 3rd to 7th to fulfill the 14-point demand. During the same period, it was informed in a press conference that the state federation will submit a memorandum with an ultimatum to the concerned chief minister and the district federation to meet the demand until January 15th.
The federation has announced that it will hold a sit-in at Maitighar Mandla on January 18 and at the Prime Minister's Residence Baluwatar on January 20. It has also warned that the eastern and western border crossings entering the capital will be blocked from January 21.
Federation President Singh said that if the demand is not met, the construction work of all projects, including projects of national pride, will be halted and more powerful programs of the movement will be announced. He also made it clear that although the program of the movement has been made public, they are in favor of dialogue and dialogue.
Accusing the black market of being protected by the government, President Singh said that entrepreneurs and common people are innocent when the state is run in the setting of limited people. President Singh said that due to unreasonable laws and policies, no one from home and abroad can work in the country. The senior vice president of the federation, Ang Dorjee Lama (AD), said that the state has never taken the problem of the construction industry sensitively.
General Secretary Roshan Dahal drew the attention of the government to fulfill the 14-point demands put forward by the federation immediately. The Policy Deputy Secretary General and Spokesperson of the Federation, Shivhari Ghimire, said that he had to announce the protest as there was no hearing even after repeatedly informing the government about the problems of the construction industry. During the season of construction work, there is a legal complication related to the increase in the price of cement as well as construction materials such as rods due to open 'carteling' and black market by cement entrepreneurs for no reason, lack of payment, extension of the deadline seen in the 13th amendment of the Public Procurement Regulations .
