The Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development of the Government of Nepal, Ramnath Adhikari, has said that if the price of milk is not paid to the farmers, they will burst into tears. Addressing the General Assembly of Central Dairy Cooperative Association Limited on Monday, Agriculture Minister Adhikari said that if the government does not support commercial farmers, they will have to rely on imported milk.

He said that the Dairy Cooperative Association should come up with a program to convince the government from this general meeting and said that the program will be addressed by the government in the next fiscal year's budget. "If there is a program targeted at the farmers, we will include it in the budget," he said, "You give the program as a common idea and we will address it." He said that since agriculture is an ancient profession, it should be protected. Stating that the prices of milk and ghee differ between farmers and traders, he said that there is an agreement between Nepal and the Japanese government to export ghee to Japan. He said that if the ghee can be exported, the loan of farmers can be paid in one month and a half.
