Chitwan Petroleum Dealers Association, an organization of petrol pump operators selling petrol and diesel, has been led by a woman for the first time. The 25th annual general meeting and 11th session of the association held on Saturday formed a new working committee under the chairmanship of Sharmila Sedhai. Sedhai was previously the vice president.
Chitwan Petroleum Dealers Association was established in the year 2051. There is a history of petrol pumps being opened in Chitwan even before the opening of Nepal Oil Corporation. Harisharan Pathak, the former president of Chitwan district of the association, said that a petrol pump will be opened in 2024 as a dealer of Indian Oil in Bharatpur. Nepal Oil Corporation was established in 2027.
President Sedhain has a petrol pump opened in Bharatpur Gondrang in 2047. Sedhain said that another petrol pump has been operating in Chitwan Kurintar since 2005. She was elected unopposed. The convention has elected Shivkant Oli as the vice president and Narayan Prasad Neupane as the general secretary.
Nepal Petroleum Dealers Association's Chitwan branch has 75 businessmen from Chitwan and Nawalpur area in the east. It was informed in the convention that daily 264 KL (kilo liter/thousand liter equal to 1 KL) of diesel and 90 KL of petrol are supplied to this area from Bara Amlekhganj depot of the Corporation.
