Jagat Bahadur Simkhada has been elected as the President of Joint Trade Union Coordination Center (JTUCC). The Sixth National Trade Union Conference in Kathmandu elected Simkhada as the National President of JTUCC for one year.
Indradev Mishra has been selected as the general secretary of the center and Sita Lama as the women's coordinator. Sarita Ghising has been selected as the secretary of the Women's Committee. JTUCC currently has ten trade union federations recognized in Nepal.
Every year, JTUCC is chaired by different trade union organizations. The newly elected president of JTUCC, Jagat Simkhada, said that he took becoming the president of JTUCC as a challenge.
He said that Nepal's trade union movement is in a difficult situation, but the constitution addresses the issue of workers, but laws have not been enacted for the benefit of workers. President Simkhada said that he will try to bring the trade union movement of Nepal, which has started to go in the opposite direction, to the opposite path.
