IT professionals suggest that there should be a clear regulatory framework for freelancing

Professionals in the information technology sector have pointed out that there is a need for a clear legal arrangement for freelancers who are independently associated with an organization. In the program organized by Nepal Association for Software and IT Service Companies (NAS-IT), the stakeholders expressed their views on finding more opportunities for Nepal's increased activity in the international field of information technology and ways to sustain the latest technology.

In the discussion on 'Nepal in the Global IT Arena', Nikesh Singh of eKazpatra Pvt Ltd, Santosh Tamrakar of IMS Software, Rajesh Tandukar of Trilokya Pvt Ltd and Yujesh Maleku of Alpus Technology expressed their views. Anish Shrestha, the financial coordinator of Epicta, moderated the discussion, and the speakers emphasized the importance of testing minimum viable products in the international market to increase customer confidence and improve business style.

Speakers pointed out the need for strong government support, clear legal provisions on intellectual property, clear regulation of freelancers and financial support for students from outside the Valley. They  He also suggested encouraging innovation through education, adopting the 'Think Local, Act Global' strategy and promoting collaboration between companies. The

event brought together the participants of the recently concluded Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (Apicta) Awards 2024 in Brunei. NAS-IT Chairman Santosh Koirala emphasized on promoting innovation, global competition and building a strong tech ecosystem through collective initiatives.

Anil Kumar Dutt, joint secretary of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, opined that platforms such as the government's support, international cooperation, and Epicta Awards are important for innovation and economic development.
