The bridge and access road under construction in Mahakali will be affected due to lack of 'variation'. Although the change design of the guide bond of the pond under construction near the bridge has been approved, the work will be affected due to lack of variation.

The construction company has also warned that they will not be able to start the work due to pressure and stop the traffic on the bridge. 'The new design was approved in March last year,' said Kishor Pandey, engineer of the bridge construction company Kumar Shrestha CFEC JV,      said,     Guidebond work was done in the hope that the variation would be done as soon as the new design was approved.

In the last week of last August, the flood of Mahakali river cut 300 meters of guide bond towards Bhimdatta municipality. have done Engineer Pandey said that when the guide bond was cut, there was a loss of 9 crores. The construction company has sent a letter to Bhimdatta Municipality along with the Mahakali bridge project saying that since there is no variation, there will be no insurance and no compensation will be received. 

A 600-meter wide and 2800-meter long pond has been constructed on both sides of the four-lane concrete bridge built on the Mahakali river. In the beginning, the guide bond of the pond was designed to be built using stones weighing more than 250 kg. After the big stones were not found, the design was changed and the new design of guide bond construction with gravel and concrete was approved in March last year. After that, the construction company started the work. 

According to the technician, if the broken guide bond is not constructed before the rains, the access road and the paved bridge may also be at risk. There was a severe flood in Mahakali in the last week of August. At that time, the flow of water in Mahakali reached 461 thousand cusecs. "If the work is not started immediately, the next flood may cause more damage," said Pandey, an engineer of the bridge construction company. 

Diwas Basnet, head of the Mahakali bridge project, said that the work on the variation of the changed design is in the final stage. More than 25 percent variation has to be done by the Cabinet. Now it is seen that the variation of the changed design is 30 percent. "The file has reached the ministry, now the variation will happen in a few days," said Basnet. He said that due to the lack of variation, the guide bond that was swept away by floods in the past cannot be compensated.

In the Gaddachouki area of ​​the access road, 200 meters of black sheet work is also left. Locals in that area have demanded that a road should be built next to the bridge built on the canal of the Mahakali irrigation project. However, project technicians say that the demand of the local people cannot be met because there is a risk of accidents when leaving the road near the bridge on the main road.

The concrete bridge is seen as the infrastructure of the dry port to be built in Dodhara Chandni. The concrete bridge construction work was completed last year. Only 200 meters of the eight kilometers of access roads are left to be constructed.
