More than 33,000 people climbed the Dharahara in one month after the fee was set. On a daily average, around 1,200 people climb the tower. More than 2,000 people climb the Dharahara on public holidays. Director of Central Project Implementation Unit (Building and Housing) Project Prakash Aryal said that 60 million revenue has been raised so far after payment.
Dharahara is closed on Wednesday. He said, "Even after the fee has been paid, climbing the Dharahara is increasing. "There is an arrangement to get the ticket by reaching the Dharahara premises. It was initially opened for free, but the fee has been fixed from last November 9th.
A fee of 200 rupees has been fixed for citizens above 10 years of age to climb the tower. A 50% discount has been arranged for students, senior citizens and disabled. According to the Ministry of Urban Development, a fee of Rs 500 per person has been set for tourists coming from SAARC countries and Rs 1000 per person for those coming from non-SAARC countries.
Three-storey parking lot has been arranged, but it has not been put into operation, so the fee has not been collected yet. Dharahara can be climbed only from 10 am to 4 pm. The construction work of Dharahara inaugurated by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on May 11, 2018 has not yet been completed. After the 072 Baisakh earthquake destroyed the tower, a new one was built and inaugurated. Dharahara stood still in 9 years after the earthquake. But the work has not been completed in 6 years since the construction started.
078 When Oli inaugurated on May 11, the progress of the overall project was 42 percent. According to the Central Project Implementation Unit (Building and Housing), it is now 88 percent. Dharahara was opened for free on October 3 on the occasion of Constitution Day as the construction work of Dharahara's tower and garden was completed.
