20 groups from Nepal, China and Singapore are going to participate in the second dragon boat race competition to be held in Pokhara.

With the aim of promoting Nepal's tourism, the second Nepal-China friendly event was organized by the Gandaki Provincial Government, Pokhara Metropolitan City, the Chinese Embassy in Nepal and Nepal Tourism Board and jointly organized by Nepal Dragon Vote Association, Pokhara Tourism Council and Pokhara Overseas Chinese Association. In the 200 meter and 500 meter competition, the first winning group in both distances will receive five thousand dollars, the runner-up will receive two thousand dollars, and the third will receive a prize of 1,200 dollars.
Similarly, the organizers said that the remaining 17 participating groups will also be given five hundred dollars per group. The second edition of Dragon Boat will also be held in Phewatal. Under the leadership of the Chinese government, the Dragon Boat Festival was held in Nepal for the first time in 2023. China has been organizing this kind of competition in 50 countries of the world. event, Wang Xin, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, said that the competition would establish harmonious relations between the citizens of Nepal and China and promote Nepal's tourism. He mentioned that China is always positive to promote Nepal's tourism.
The executive head of Nepal Tourism Board, Deepakraj Joshi, mentioned that China is also the main tourist resource market of Nepal and said that the Dragon Boat Race will help in the promotion of Pokhara's tourism.
Since 2009, this festival celebrated by the Chinese has been considered an intangible cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO. According to the Tourism Board, the Dragon Boat Festival will be held in China on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Chinese lunar calendar. . There is a tradition of celebrating this festival for 3 to 7 days in different provinces of China. The Chinese government gives a public holiday to celebrate this festival.

In 2019, 169,534 tourists from China and 60,874 tourists visited Nepal in 2023. From January to November 2024, 92,848 Chinese tourists have visited Nepal.
