While traveling through the Narayangadh-Muglin road, you must have noticed that the car shuddered when approaching the mouth of the bridge in the past. Because the bridge is smaller than the road, the vehicle used to tremble because the small breaker bar was placed on the road to indicate that the vehicle should slow down when approaching the bridge.

Also, the road had to be closed for three to four hours a day during the last two consecutive winters because the mountain had to be cut to build a bridge over the Tuin River.

Even though the narrow Narayangadh-Muglin road was made into two lanes according to Asian standards, the bridge was still old. Now, the work of making the bridge on the road to match the width of the highway is almost finished. The construction of 19 long bridges along the road was started, out of which 18 bridges including Tuin river have been completed and vehicles have started running. The work of one remaining bridge is in final stage.

The work of the Khare bridge near Muglin has also been completed by more than 90 percent. We are hopeful that the bridge will also be operational by January 1, the date of completion of the work," said Engineer Sachindra Mishra, who is the Information Officer of the Nagadhunga Muglin Road Plan West Section, which coordinated the construction of the bridge. The Narayangadh-Muglin road, which was completed in 2036, started to be expanded in 2072 due to the narrowness of the road.

The work of widening the road to two lanes was completed in the winter of 2075. The bridge built along the road in 2036 was narrow. There were 18 bridges on the road. The road was already narrow, because the bridge was even narrower, around 2060/61, the railings of some bridges were moved to make the bridge a little wider, said Shiv Khanal, the then engineer of the Narayangadh-Muglin road project.

Four new bridges were built during the road expansion. At Dasdhunga, Khani Pul and Maury Pul, new Farakila bridges were constructed parallel to the old bridges (horizontal). Similarly, there was a winding road in Jalbire. The car used to pass by the small bridge. A new bridge with a length of 75  meters was built by making the road straight instead of curved. An agreement was reached on Chait 10, 2076 to build the remaining 15 Farakila bridges.

The length of Narayangadh-Mughlin road is 36 km. Seti Dovan on this road used to drive through a winding road like in Jalbire. A new bridge of 65 meters length has been built at Seti Dobhan to avoid having to go around that road. All remaining 14 bridges have old bridges too. Two vehicles can easily cross the new bridge. But both new and old bridges are being used.

The old bridges are somewhat dilapidated. The railings are broken. Engineer Sachindra Mishra, information officer of the Nagadhunga-Muglin Road Plan West Section, says that this issue should be addressed by the Divisional Road Office. According to the division road office, the vehicles are moving easily through the new bridge and the completed bridge.

It seems that in some places the railings should be repaired and the height of the bridges should be adjusted. We have placed a sign. We have made arrangements for vehicles to run using new and old bridges without any confusion," said Narayan Prasad Lamichhane, head of Bharatpur's divisional road office. The Narayangadh-Muglin road is the main road connecting the federal capital Kathmandu and the tourist city Pokhara with the eastern and western parts of the country.

More than 10,000 small and big vehicles pass through this road, which is also called the life line of the capital.
