An agreement on the export of buffalo meat has been signed between Nepal and China. The agreement was signed between two companies from Nepal and China at an event held in Kathmandu on Monday.

A meat export agreement has been signed between Nepal's Himalaya Food International and China's Shanghai Food Company Limited. Established in 2068, Himalayan Food International has been exporting processed meat to various countries. During Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's visit to China, a protocol was signed between Nepal and China regarding the export of prepared buffalo meat.  In the

program, Agriculture and Livestock Minister Ramnath Adhikari said that the agreement between Nepal and China regarding the export of meat has encouraged Nepalese farmers to rear cattle. Nepal's climate and diverse geographical features are excellent for animal husbandry. Although the amount of original product of Nepal that we produce in this climate is not very much, its importance is very big.

Many people believe that nutritional and medicinal benefits can be obtained from the milk and meat of animals raised by eating herbs and medicinal herbs found in the Himalayan and mountainous areas of Nepal,' said the minister. After ensuring the quality of Ranga meat produced by the farmers, the minister also said that the Nepalese government is committed to export the meat according to the standards of the Chinese government which will be used by the general Nepalese consumers.

The General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) has policies on the import of 18 food items including meat. GACC has made rules such as that buffaloes should be disease-free for meat import, food should be produced in Nepali climate with hygiene, buffaloes should be less than 30 months old, and standards set by the government should be followed during 'slaughter'. Nepal has to export meat according to international standards.

The Ministry has designated some districts of Madhesh Province, Wagmati Province and Lumbini Province as pocket areas for buffalo meat to export meat. The ministry has developed infrastructure to meet the international standards for meat in that area and has given permission to some entrepreneurs to raise buffaloes. According to the agreement, it is expected that the trade deficit with China will be reduced after meat is exported.
