A cooperation agreement has been signed between Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) and United Nations Development Program (UNDP) for sustainable development and capacity building of the private sector.
Chamber President Kamlesh Kumar Agrawal and acting resident representative of UNDP, Julien Chevilard, signed the program today at the Chamber Building in Jamal, Kathmandu.
It is mentioned in a statement released by the Nepal Chamber of Commerce that the agreement was signed to enhance the capacity of the private sector, climate change adaptation, disaster management and cooperation to meet the development goals set by the UNDP.
The subject of cooperation for enhancing the capacity of the community in the event of natural disasters is also included in the agreement . Climate change mitigation and adaptation as well as risk mitigation has also been committed.
The agreement between the Chamber of Commerce and UNDP will be implemented immediately. Chamber President Agarwal said that it is important for the private sector to collaborate with the UN agency on capacity building of the private sector, disaster management preparedness and response.
Acting Resident Representative of UNDP Chevilard said that he is happy to cooperate with the Chamber to meet the UN goals for sustainable development . He claims that Nepal is at a high risk of climate change and cooperation with the Chamber is very important to avoid natural disasters. Chevilard said that by developing the efficiency of the private sector, it will help to expand the overall economic activity of the country.
