Madan Dahal, joint secretary of the Ministry of Finance, has been given the responsibility of chairman in the Nepal Insurance Authority. After the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority filed a case against President Surya Prasad Silwal for corruption, he was automatically suspended.
With his suspension, the responsibility of the chairman, which was vacant, was taken over by Joint Secretary Dahal. Dahal is currently representing the Ministry of Finance and is the Director of Nepal Insurance Authority.
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to President Dahal on Friday. The government has given the responsibility to chairman Dahal to act as the chairman of Nepal Insurance Authority until further arrangements are made.
While taking charge, Dahal, the Chairman of the Authority, said that his first priority is to initiate the appointment of the Chairman of the Authority soon and the second priority is the appointment of the Executive Director of the Authority.
Chairman Dahal instructed the employees to work with dedication and fulfill their respective responsibilities so that there is a change in the authority. "Priority should be given to solving the issues that the insured are concerned about, protecting the rights of the insured and instilling confidence in citizens that insurance is good, focusing on solving the problems of insurers and developing and expanding the insurance sector," he said.
