52 million rupees have been brought in to Khotang from the sale of cardamom this year alone. 52.66 million rupees have been brought into the district from the export of cardamom produced at various local levels.

According to Prem Kumar Rai, District President of Cardamom Traders Federation, cardamom has been bought and sold from farmers at an average rate of 86-87 thousand rupees. 2150,000 has been received from the sale of cardamom in Kepilasgarhi rural municipality.

Rai said that Rs. 66 million have been received.

This year, Khotang cardamom was sold for up to 1 lakh 5 thousand rupees in the market, Rai said. The cardamom produced in Khotang reaches the international market through Jhapa. Harinarayan Rai, head of Agricultural Knowledge Center Khotang, said that 13,550 cardamoms were produced in the district this year. According to Rai, cardamom is cultivated on 1,064 hectares of land in the district.
