The physical progress of the 140 megawatt capacity Tanahun hydropower project under construction at Jhaputar in Risching rural municipality-1 Kahunshivpur of the district has reached only 63 percent. package-3, KEC International Limited India has undertaken the construction of a 220 kVA double circuit transmission line from Damauli to Bharatpur in Chitwan. According to the project, out of the 94 towers in the 34.7 km transmission line, the foundation of 78 towers has been laid and 69 towers have been erected. The progress of this package is 74 percent.

The overall construction is set to be completed by June 2083 (May 2026). A team consisting of Director of ADB's Nepal Housing Mission, Arnold Kushwa, and Kulman Ghising, Executive Director of the Authority and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tanahun Hydropower Limited, conducted on-site monitoring of the project on Monday and instructed to complete the construction on time.  Tanahun rural electrification and distribution system strengthening project has been completed through the project management directorate of Nepal Authority to electrify Tanahun district under the social development program of

project. Under this, two substations of 33/11 kVA have been built and put into operation in Ghiring Rural Municipality-4 and Bandipur Rural Municipality-6 for local electricity supply. A 33 KVA line has been constructed to deliver electricity to the said substations. Distribution transformers of different capacities have been installed and 11 KVA lines have been constructed in various places to make the electricity supply of Tanahun district sufficient, reliable and of good quality.  Under the

community development program, 63 projects including education, health, drinking water, roads, river embankment construction etc. have been completed in the project affected areas. 10 projects are running . Various skill-based trainings are being conducted for the livelihood and income generation of project affected people.
