A hacking group called 'Salt Typhoon', which is believed to be related to China, has launched a serious cyber attack targeting eight major telecommunication companies in America, including Verizon, AT&T, Lumen, and T-Mobile. Currently, some service providers have asked iPhone and Android users not to send SMS messages.

During this attack, hackers were found to have accessed the highly personal SMS messages and phone conversations of high-ranking US government officials and several prominent political figures . A US senator called this incident the biggest hacking in US telecom history.

The US Presidential Office White House has confirmed the incident saying that this attack was targeted only at limited people. However, the impact of this disclosure has spread across global communication systems. In the wake of the incident, U.S. officials have proposed mandatory regulation of telecommunications companies, including significant improvements in network security and the implementation of annual risk management protocols.

They believe that this will prevent future attacks and help improve telecom security infrastructure.

Hackers are believed to have gained access to former and newly elected President Donald Trump, his vice presidential candidate JD Vance, current Vice President Kamala Harish and some key people in their campaign.

National Security Deputy Chief Advisor for Cyber Security and Emerging Technologies Anne Neuberger confirmed the seriousness of this incident and said, 'No classified or highly confidential communications were accessed or compromised by the hackers, but the existing cyber security measures at the companies affected by this incident The risk of further damage may remain until the vulnerabilities are fully addressed.'

The media has said that US President Joe Biden has been informed about this incident and that solving this problem has become a matter of national priority. A senior official of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said that the investigation on this matter is ongoing and that hackers believed to be associated with China are collaborating with telecom companies to completely eliminate access to the affected network.

"China-linked cyber attackers are targeting major commercial telecommunications service providers to gain access to sensitive information and information and engage in cyber espionage," said Brian Vorndran, assistant director of the FBI's Cyber Division.   Some of the service providers affected by the

event are operating not only in the US but also in dozens of other countries, so technology experts are of the opinion that the impact of this event will be global. They are of the view that this hacking incident, which has alerted the telecom sector to the need for an agile and strong cyber security system and some weaknesses in the digital structure, has alerted the national security and telecom sector to increase expenses and liabilities related to cyber management.

Although some details are still under investigation, a meeting of a committee of the US Senate has been called for December 11 to discuss this issue. Based on Salt Typhoon's ability and working methods, the US government has said that the hacking group has the support and assistance of the Chinese government. The Chinese government said that it does not support any kind of hacking incident. It has been continuously denied.
