Qatar Airways has suspended the Doha-Bhairawa flight due to lack of two-way passenger demand. According to Deepak Brajacharya, spokesperson of Gautam Buddha International Airport located in Bhairahawa, Qatar made its last flight on Saturday, November 15.

"There has been no Qatar Airways flight from Doha since Saturday," spokesperson Bajracharya told Kantipur.

With the end of festivals such as Dasain, Tihar, Chhath and autumn tourism season, Qatar launched a flight from Doha to Bhairahawa 19 days ago (November 27) due to the rush of passengers returning from Nepal. Qatar took a Bhairahawa touchdown permit from Doha and took a flight from Kathmandu to Doha. "When Qatar flew daily on this route for 19 days, around 100 passengers traveled in both directions," said spokesperson Bajracharya.

The Nepal Civil Aviation Authority has said that Qatar has not sent correspondence for permission to fly to Bhairahawa. "For the first time, Qatar took a flight permit for Doha-Bhairawa from 12 November to 30 November," said Gyanendra Bhul, co-spokesperson of the authority, "after November, it did not ask for permission for the month of December."

Qatar has also recalled the staff assigned to Bhairahawa from there to Kathmandu.

Qatar, which operates four daily flights between Doha and Kathmandu during the tourist season, is currently operating only two flights in Kathmandu.

Meanwhile, due to the lack of passenger traffic, Thai Air Asia, which comes from Thailand, has also reduced the number of flights to Bhairahawa. According to spokesperson Brajacharya, Thai Air Asia, which is flying Bangkok-Bhairawa on Mondays and Thursdays, has merged Monday's flight with Thursday's.

Apart from Qatar, Thai Air Asia, Fly Dubai, Jazeera and Nepal Airlines Corporation were operating international flights in Bhairahawa till Saturday. After Saturday, the number of airlines operating international flights at Bhairahawa has dropped to four. According to the airport office, there are currently passengers for Dubai from this airport. 60-70 passengers are returning from Dubai to Nepal daily.
