Clean Energy recycles non-biodegradable solid waste within Khairhani and Ratnanagar Municipalities, making compost from biodegradable waste.
Waste management has become a headache for the local level. Chitwan Khairhani Municipality-4, Bhubaneswar Toll, Safa Energy Production Pvt. Ltd. has been converting the waste into fertilizer and fertilizer to increase agricultural production.
Safa Energy has been reusing non-decomposable solid waste and making compost from decomposable waste in Khairhani and Ratnanagar Municipalities for two years. 18 tons of garbage collected daily in these two municipalities have been consumed by clean energy.
"We have set separate days for the collection of biodegradable waste and non-biodegradable solid materials such as lead," said Yogendra KC, one of the operators of Safa Energy. Organic fertilizers are being produced from rotting waste. The company manufactures fertilizers under two brands.
One fertilizer has been certified organic and another is in the process of being certified, KC said. He said that although there is a capacity to produce five lakh kilos of fertilizer per year, only half of it is currently being produced. Currently, only 10 percent of the waste collected is compostable waste. He said that there are 16 types of micronutrients needed by the soil in clean manure.
'Other solid waste is recycled or processed. Plastic bottles, plastic bags, metal and paper are sold as raw materials in the processing industry. We remove the fibers from the fabric. Rubber can also be recycled,” said Casey. He also mentioned that concrete blocks are made by making dust of broken glass. He says that most of the waste will be recycled or used and only 20 percent should be sent to the landfill site.
KC said the company worked for waste management as well as agriculture and fertilizers. He said that 70 youths raised 12 million rupees and opened the company. We have bought tools and equipment to separate and clean different items from garbage. We have bought the land to set up the plant. We are adding investments to work more systematically and automatically. 21 The investment may be up to 21 crore rupees,' KC said.
According to Vasant Rana, Safety Manager of Clean Energy, 130 people have been employed during the garbage disposal. He also said that he is going to start farming on four bigha of land to give an example of the effectiveness of organic fertilizers prepared by processing waste. We planted hundred-petal flowers and put this fertilizer. The result was very good. Now we are planting onion, garlic and corn," said Phaninder Neupane, the company's agriculture supervisor.
Casey said that he wants to work together with municipalities to make waste management sustainable and effective. It is also expensive. Even if there is no return according to the investment, there has been an effective work for waste management. It has turned waste into revenue. It is also environment friendly. It is necessary to cooperate with the municipalities to carry it effectively and sustainably,' said Casey.
