The Nepal Electricity Authority has written to the Registrar of Companies' office to freeze the shares of 34 industries that have not paid dues for consuming electricity through dedicated feeders and trunk lines during the load shedding period.
Kulman Ghising, executive director of the authority, wrote to the registrar's office on Wednesday and asked them to stop the share trading of industries that do not pay their dues. If the shares of a company with arrears of electricity tariff are invested in shares in any other company, the shares of that company and the owner of the company holding the arrears of electricity tariff shall be withheld in any way to transfer the rights to the said company and not be given a mortgage for the recovery of the arrears of electricity tariff. It is requested to provide the necessary assistance,' said the letter sent by Ghising.
According to the decision of the Council of Ministers on November 25 and the directive of the Electricity Regulatory Commission on November 11, Ghising has written to the office of the company registrar to stop the share trading of non-paying industries . The Commission had instructed the Nepal Electricity Authority to take action other than cutting off the power of the industry for the recovery of dues.
