For 47 years after the electricity was switched on in the district headquarters, the line has not yet been extended in the settlements of West Baglung. Although it has reached the roadside, the national transmission line has not yet reached the rural settlements of four municipalities in the district.
It has been 47 years since the residents of the capital started living in light in the year 033 from the small hydropower project built in Kathekhola near Baglung Bazar. Even rural residents have not been able to turn on electricity. "The national transmission line came in 047," said Shrestha, a local Kazi villager. The dream of bringing electricity to some settlements has not yet been fulfilled. Even after years of struggle, they could not bring electricity to the village.
Due to the lack of electricity, life in rural settlements is still difficult. The cold store built in Tamankhola Rural Municipality-4 Lamela is stuck due to lack of electricity. The national transmission line is being awaited as the capacity for the operation of the cold store is not enough even though electricity is turned on in the village through micro-electricity. Last financial year, this building was built by spending 5 million 5 million in the state government's supplementary budget, 45 million in the federal government's supplementary budget and 1.5 million in the rural municipality's budget.
There is no central line electricity in Tamankhola Rural Municipality. The light is made here by the small micro-electricity made by the locals. Locals say that industries could not be opened here even if they wanted to because of the lack of electricity. "We rely on small electricity for the school's information center, sometimes it gets damaged," said Vasant Gharti Magar, a teacher at the local Dhangaujyoti school Locals speculate.
In Nisikhola rural municipality-2 Arnakot, the residents have been suffering for years as they could not draw water due to lack of electricity. Ward president Kuvir Wik says that he has been making plans every year to see when the electricity will arrive and when the water from the Kholsa can be drawn and taken to the settlement. Residents here walk two/three hours a day to fetch water. Also in the mobile phone tower here
There is a power shortage. "Since there was a complaint that the phone was disconnected every day due to lack of electricity in the tower, we have taken a generator," said Santosh Baral, Chief Engineer of Nepal Telecom Baglung, "Some problems have been solved, but not sustainable."
There is still a problem of not answering the phone in Nisikhola-5 Niseldhor due to lack of electricity. The 2G service that was placed here last year is not operational. Locals say that there is a problem that the phone picks up when the sun is shining and turns off when it is not. Niseldhor phones are out of service after rains, clouds and daily fog. Due to lack of electricity, there are also phone problems in Niseldhor, Dhorpatan and Burtiwang of Baglung. Tourists who go to Buki also complain that they are not able to give information due to lack of phone. Soldiers in Dhorpatan also said that it would be difficult to contact them at home.
Burtiwang, the second market after the headquarters, has not been completely electrified. Although the electricity line was reached three years ago, it has been extended only to Dhorpatan Municipality 1 and 2. According to local Vimala Mahat, work is being done to electrify Ward 5 by the end of June. President Gandaki Thapa Adhikari said that in Badigad Rural Municipality-8 Ransinkiteni, there is also a problem in health institutions due to lack of electricity. "We are trying to bring electricity to the village, it has been delayed because the substation has not been built," she said. The official said that it is necessary to find a budget for the expansion of electricity service in the budget of the rural municipality.
In Dhorpatan Municipality, Badigad Rural Municipality, Taman and Nisikhola in West Baglung, daily life has been affected due to lack of electricity. ``Furniture industries, stone industries and motor garages in rural areas are also facing problems,'' Tamankhola rural municipality president Jokalal Budha said, ``there is a need to electrify soon.''
Mudbury & Joshi Gaura Joint Construction Company is constructing the substation. Engineer Prakash Yadav said that although the substation being built at a cost of 330 million is targeted to be completed by mid-June, it will take some time due to delay in the import of goods. After connecting the 132 KV transmission line in Renam, the area will be electrified. At present, the power taken from the 11 KV transmission line in Galkot-5 Harichaur did not reach Burtiwang, so the expansion was not possible. Burtiwang is 50 km west of Harichour.
Yadav said that even after the construction of the substation, there will still be difficulties in the expansion of electricity in Nisikhola and Dhorpatan areas. "There are settlements 50 to 60 km away from here, if we take electricity directly to those places, the power will not be enough," said Yadav, "we have a system of connection."
