According to the National Bank, the annual point consumer price increase (inflation) remained at 3.85 percent last August. In the same month last year, this price increase was 8.19 percent.

During that period, the price growth rate of food and beverages group is 5.03 percent and that of non-food and services group is 3.19 percent. In the same period last year, the price increase of these groups was 9.77 percent and 7.19 percent respectively.

Last August, under the food and beverage group, the annual point consumer price index of pulses and pulses sub-group increased by 10.80, vegetables by 9.84, food and food products by 9.34 and fruits by 4.94 percent. However, the annual spot price index of Maramsala sub-group has decreased by 2.69 percent.

Under the non-food and services group, the annual point consumer price index of miscellaneous goods and services sub-group has increased by 8.71, alcoholic beverages by 6.76, clothing and footwear by 6.08 and household appliances by 4.88 percent. However, the annual spot price index of the insurance and financial services sub-group has remained stable, according to the Rastra Bank.
