Now the internal debt of the government will also be raised by the Public Debt Management Office. From Monday (February 19), the Public Debt Management Office is going to collect the internal debt that has been raised by Nepal Rastra Bank so far.
Rastra Bank has issued a notification on Sunday and has informed that from 080 Chait 19, the negotiation and issuance of government treasury bills and development bonds will be done from the Public Debt Management Office at Tripureshwar.
The government has established this office for public debt management. At present, this office has been collecting external loans, but it has not done the work of collecting internal loans. However, the work of payment was being done . Now the office is about to start the internal debt collection. Along with this, there will be no direct involvement of Rashtra Bank except for assistance and facilitation in the purpose of raising the government's debt.
In the current fiscal year, a total of 2 trillion 40 billion rupees was set as a target to collect internal debt. According to the government's target, the National Bank has published a schedule for raising internal loans through instruments such as treasury bills, development bonds, citizen savings bonds and foreign employment savings bonds. In the last fiscal year, the government has achieved 99.99 percent of its target of raising 2 trillion 56 billion domestic debt.
In the current fiscal year, the Rastra Bank was scheduled to issue 55 billion treasury bills, 1 trillion 79 billion development bonds, 5 billion citizen savings bonds and 1 billion foreign employment savings bonds .
It is mentioned in the table that the share of treasury bills is 22.9 percent, the share of development bonds is 74.6 percent, the share of citizen savings bonds is 2.1 percent and the share of foreign employment savings bonds is 0.4 percent. According to this table, the National Bank has raised 1 trillion 74 billion domestic loans so far.
Now the rest of this year's 66 billion billion and all in the coming days will be collected by the Public Debt Management Office.
