Chandrakant Basnet, the chief administrative officer of Ichchakamana Rural Municipality, located in the hilly region of Chitwan, was assaulted in his office. The rural municipality has stated that a group of six people, including Lal Bahadur Tamang, the director of construction company Kingfisher Construction, assaulted him at 11 am on Thursday.
Maya Silwal, the vice-chairwoman of the rural municipality, said that the chief administrative officer was assaulted with the intention of killing him and that the police have been informed to arrest those involved in the incident. The injured administrative officer Basnet has injuries to his head, mouth, nose and other parts of his body. Vice-chairwoman Silwal informed that he is being treated at the rural municipality hospital.
There were two other service recipients in the office of administrative officer Basnet. The group of six people attacked the chief administrative officer after forcing the service recipients to leave.
Meanwhile, all employees working in the rural municipality have stopped work citing insecurity. They have issued a collective statement stating that they are unable to work until the culprits are punished.
There was a dispute between the Kingfisher Company and its office in Padampur, Kalika Municipality-2, regarding the rural municipality's demand for a bank guarantee. Kingfisher filed a petition in the court demanding an order against the rural municipality, but the Chitwan court refused to issue such an order on Wednesday. Chitwan police have stated that the search for those involved in the incident is ongoing.
