Kumar Nepali of Ramche, Bahrabise Municipality-9 in the district has been able to obtain the necessary documents including his wife's citizenship after receiving financial assistance.

Earlier, after the news published in the 'Household Expenses' column of Ikantipur titled 'Lack of money has not allowed his wife to obtain citizenship ', he got his wife's citizenship, marriage registration and children's birth registration done on Friday after the Community Self-reliant Service Center's committed project and Bahrabise Municipality provided financial assistance and coordination. The organization took care of the transportation, food expenses and the municipality managed the technical management, making it possible to obtain the documents in coordination with Bahrabise Municipality. 'It was difficult to manage household expenses with an income of two to three thousand a month,' said Kumar, 'I could not obtain my wife's citizenship even for 10 years due to lack of money. After receiving assistance, I was able to obtain citizenship and other documents.'

He said that it would cost at least five to seven thousand rupees to travel from the village to Chautara via Bahrabise and reach Chautara to obtain the documents. Kumar, a Dalit, has been running his family by carrying heavy loads and doing other jobs in the village. His wife also works as a laborer carrying firewood and grass. The family of four, including a nine-year-old son and a four-year-old daughter, is making a living from this kind of labor.

After the 2072 earthquake destroyed his house, he now lives in a small house and has two small fields, but the produce is not enough to eat throughout the year. 'Even though children's education is free, it is difficult to make ends meet,' he said.

Bahrabise Municipality and supporting organizations have stated that they will provide additional support for his livelihood. Municipality Mayor Balkrishna Basnet said that they will provide free education and other necessary support to Nepali children.

Gopalkrishna Basnet, coordinator of the Community Self-Reliance Service Center Committed Project, informed that they will move forward in coordination with the municipality for additional support.
