Arani highway has been blocked due to a landslide with stones and rocks in Sanga, which is the border area of Kavrepalanchok and Bhaktapur.
District Traffic Police Office Bhaktapur Chief Police Inspector Pradeep Khatri informed that due to continuous rain since Saturday, a landslide including rocks and stones fell on the suspension bridge located in Suryavinayak Municipality-10 of Bhaktapur.
According to him, the landslide with small stones and rocks was falling since 5 pm on Saturday. Two-way traffic has been blocked on that stretch of road since around 9:00 p.m. He said that the Bhaktapur-Nala road section was used as an alternative route.
He informed that the landslide is being removed using excavators in the blocked road section.
Similarly, a tanker carrying petroleum products is stuck in the mud. Now, the process of removing landslides with the help of excavators is continuing.
The operation of vehicles going to Kavre and other districts of the east through the Aranika highway will be stopped from Saturday. With the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority imposing a three-day ban on vehicles entering and leaving the valley, vehicles going east from Bhaktapur's Jagati have not run. Chief District Officer Namraj Ghimire informed that vehicles passing through the eastern border will be stopped today as well.
