A young man died on Wednesday after being electrocuted in a paddy field at Manhari in Makwanpur.
30-year-old Lal Bahadur Moktan of Chitwan Rapti Municipality-1 died due to electrocution in the paddy fields of Manhari Rural Municipality-6 Jogital.
In order to protect the rice crop from wild animals, electric current was installed in the field. Moktan, who came to the paddy field in the morning, was electrocuted and died on the spot, police inspector Vishal Sapkota of the area police office Manhari said.
It was Moktan himself who was doing the work of leaving the current in the evening and turning it off in the morning in the electric wire installed in the paddy field. But on Wednesday he died due to electrocution as he came to the farm without turning off the electricity, said local Devlal Thing. The locals informed the police after seeing a man lying in the field. "When the police and locals arrived at the scene, they saw that the death was due to electrocution," said police inspector Sapkota.
The deceased Moktan's house is also in Manhari Jogital. But he was now living in Rapti Municipality - 1. Farming is in his family. The police said that the person who died due to electrocution belonged to the paddy field of Moktan.
Similarly, in another strange incident, a rhinoceros was found dead in a paddy field in Madi Municipality-2 Bhairavpur of Chitwan on Wednesday. With the aim of protecting the crops from wild animals, the current planted in the fields has become dangerous for both humans and wild animals.
