The Indian government had a few days ago requested the extradition of Mirza Dilsad Baig, a national MP elected from Kapilvastu-4 in the 2051 mid-term elections and a central member of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, to Nepal through Interpol. Mirza, a lawmaker who won from the Nepal Sadbhavana Party in the 2048 general elections, was accused of being involved in criminal activities in India.

Indian newspapers had been accusing him of being affiliated with the Pakistani spy agency ISI. He had also once been a minister of state. He had been claiming that the allegations made against him by Indian newspapers were false. When India requested his extradition, he was shot dead in Siphal, Kathmandu on 14 Asad 2055. This was the first incident of a sitting MP being shot dead in Nepal. The initial police investigation report stated that he was killed by 7-8 bullets using a state-of-the-art '9 mm' pistol and revolver. It was not known who committed the murder and why.

On Ashad 14, at 9:30 pm, his car driver had parked his car in the square after going down to the left from Sifal Panitanki. After walking down about 40 feet, MP Beg was shot. The police estimated that MP Beg and driver Karki were shot a few seconds apart. The driver's right hand was on the steering wheel of the car, while his body was leaning towards the left seat. The car's headlights were also on. The driver was shot in the head and hand. The police suspected that MP Beg fled after being shot. The police suspected that he was shot while running away. Bullets were visible everywhere at the scene. Since it was night, it was not possible to determine how many bullets were fired. It was also not clear whether the attackers were hiding there or if they had come immediately.

MP Beg, wearing a white shirt, black pants, and leather sandals, was lying face down. Beg, who was on the other side of a narrow and dark alley, was bleeding profusely from his head and mouth. He used to walk around Sifal normally. He permanently lived with his eldest wife in Mitra Park Lampokhari. That day, he was going to his second wife's residence.
