[Archive] The first helicopter flown by the private sector

The topic of private sector investing in the aviation sector was new. Because at that time only the Royal Nepali Army had helicopters. Shahi Nepal Air Service Corporation had hired two helicopters along with the army. Helicopter service was beyond the reach of the general public.

Since the 50s, private companies have started flying helicopters in Nepali skies for the first time. On October 24, 2050, two Russian helicopters of Asian Airlines were brought into Nepal for the first time via Russia, Pakistan and New Delhi. The number of helicopters and airplanes flying in the airspace is now possible after opening the way for investment for the private sector.

After opening the way for private investment, now 11 companies are flying more than 30 helicopters in the Nepali sky . This was the achievement of the private sector after the political change of 2046 .

The helicopter service entered the airspace when the government was confused about which areas to allow private investment. The then Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala said that it is possible for the private sector to make hydropower? Investors are still telling the story of asking such questions. But if the private sector had not produced electricity, perhaps the country would have remained in the dark! The subject of private sector entry into the air sector was also new for the government. Because the panchayat did not have that arrangement.

Asian Airlines brought a 24-person helicopter on rent from Russia. The helicopter driver was not Nepalese. Asian Airlines sent two Nepali technicians to New Zealand for training to operate the helicopters brought by the private sector for commercial flights. It was planned to operate those helicopters in Lukla, Jomsom and other areas.

Asian Airlines informed that it will operate a 'cargo flight' to carry the materials of the development project. The helicopter was chartered for Dolpa by a German film producer without coming. But due to the fact that he had to stay at the border of Iran and Pakistan for three days while bringing the helicopter, the opportunity of charter flight of Dolpa was lost.

At that time, the entry of helicopters into the airspace with private investment added a kind of excitement. Laws that attract not only air, but also energy, education, health and other sectors were made at that time . The largest penetration of the private sector in investment probably took place during Koirala's time from 2048 to 051 .

By connecting this context, the news that the private sector is going to fly helicopters in the Nepali sky for the first time in Nepal, Kantipur published a news titled 'Helicopters have taken off' on October 26, 2050.
