Leader Matrika Prasad Yadav has said that the political turmoil in Madhesh Province has been witnessed recently after two Maoist MPs broke discipline. Although the party issued a whip to give a vote of confidence to Chief Minister Jitendra Sonal, the Sonal government collapsed after Rahbar Ansari and Mala Karna stood in opposition.

Ansari and Karna were unhappy after the Yadav faction made Bharat Prasad Sah the leader of the parliamentary party. The other faction became unhappy after Sah put forward his name and another MP for the ministerial post. In this context, Matrika Yadav , who is also the party's in-charge in Madhesh Province, spoke to Ganga BC for Kantipur:

There have been frequent ups and downs in the issue of forming a government in Madhesh Province. What is the reason for this?

There was a government led by the Janmat Party in Madhesh. But later, a new equation began to form between our party and other parties - especially forces other than UML and Congress. After some MPs did not support it, Chief Minister Jitendra Sonal resigned. It was seen that the Speaker and the provincial chief worked for the party (UML). There was a manipulation in the appointment of the Chief Minister.

Eventually, Congress also joined in and a new game began. The parties asked the provincial chief to call for the formation of the government. He said, "I am advising." But the provincial chief's act of running away and secretly taking the oath violated the dignity of the provincial chief. That is a very respected position. He did not maintain his dignity. The outgoing Chief Minister had bid farewell to him, wishing him good health. But then the provincial chief secretly administered the oath to the UML party leader as the Chief Minister from Janakpur. No one was informed.

But the government fell because two MPs from your own party, the Maoists, did not vote, right?

The question you raised is quite legitimate. The youth movement that has taken place now has also had an impact within the Maoists. The disease of popularity has reached the leaders and MPs. Some leaders within the party did not follow discipline and went against the party. Now, after the internal process of the party is completed with the two provincial MPs, there is a preparation to seek clarification and take necessary action.

What will the Maoists and other parties do in Madhesh Province now?

There is a big rebellion in Madhesh Province now. Tension has reached the Chief Minister's office. It is shameful in itself that the provincial chief and the Chief Minister have to flee.

What will the parties do when a writ petition has been filed in the Supreme Court regarding the appointment of the Chief Minister in Madhesh?

Since the case has been registered in the Supreme Court, now we have to wait for the court's decision. But along with that, dialogue between the concerned leaders is also necessary. KP Sharma Oli himself says that the constitution should be protected, but it cannot be protected by going the other way. UML friends should also understand this.

Those who reject federalism are working to defame federalism by relying on federalism. But this does not mean that federalism should end. Some elements are running this business for their own interests. We must explain this to the people.

Even if the Maoists have weaknesses, we must take responsibility for them. The court has set a precedent before - as long as the majority is possible, the right to topple or dissolve the government cannot be used.

So, the parties are not in a position to correct themselves, are they?

The Supreme Court's decision on the Madhesh government will provide direction. But ultimately, this can only be resolved through dialogue and political responsibility. We must tell the truth to the people, and reform must be done within the system. The parties must admit their weaknesses.
