Nepal Communist Party General Secretary Nekrabitram Chand, former General Secretary of the CPN (Unified Socialist) Ghanshyam Bhusal, and former Deputy General Secretary of the Maoist Center Janardan Sharma have agreed to form a 'Broad Democratic Front' of leftists, democrats, and patriots.

Why did they decide to form a front against the unity of the Maoists, CPN-S and other parties? Janardan Sharma, who formed the 'Progressive National Campaign' instead of uniting with the Maoists, was interviewed by Kantipur's Ganga BC. Why did he form a separate front instead of uniting with the Maoists, CPN-S and other parties? Today, we held a meeting between CPN General Secretary Biplabji, me and Samajwadi Ghanshyamji. In that meeting, the current political situation after the Gen-G movement was reviewed. There was also a comprehensive discussion on how to lead the next political year based on the important demands raised by the Gen-G movement. Today, we had a preliminary discussion and in that preliminary discussion, we have mainly agreed on two things. The first thing is to move forward in collaboration with new political parties against the agendas raised by the Gen-G movement, including corruption. Since some unity, including those that do not take responsibility for creating corruption and the status quo and are being promoted, cannot solve the country's problems, we have concluded that a grand alliance or front should be formed by including all the progressive, leftist and democratic forces other than them. Is this an electoral front? We have decided that we should move forward together by forming a grand alliance or a grand front not in the old way, but in a new way - to fulfill the aspirations of the Nepali people for socialism and good governance - with everyone. We had been practicing forming a socialist center before. As a continuation of that, today we have discussed and agreed to form a front by including all the progressive, leftist and democratic forces on a larger scale. Is it an alliance of only communists or will others also participate? The need for this is to bring today's politics of the country on the right track. The time for drafting a constitution is also coming. Our aim is to bring the country on a legal path, protect nationalism and institutionalize the achievements of Nepal's progressive, leftist, democratic movement. We struggled to transform the situation created by the previous governments and parties, but that was not enough. Therefore, we have come to the conclusion that we must move forward in a new way, keeping the people's feelings and rights at the center, and establishing citizen supremacy. On that basis, we have made an initial agreement and moved forward. Is this an exercise in forming a new communist party?

We are committed to gradually developing and modifying this process based on the political needs of the country through theoretical and ideological discussions and debates. Now we have talked about cooperation and fronts, we are not talking about party formation in a hurry.

We will move forward in the direction of a broad socio-political front that includes everyone through discussions and debates. Our agreement is to form a broad social front and cooperation.

What is the reason why you Maoists and CPN-S did not go to the unity?

We raised the issue of anti-corruption and the need to hand over leadership to the new generation, but those old parties stood against it. We did not go there because they stood against the demands raised by the Gen-G movement. We have never had any interest in capturing the party or becoming leaders. We have already made public our commitment to bringing the new generation to the leadership. Our aim is not to form a group or gather for our own security interests. I would like to reiterate that we are committed to the transformation and progress of Nepali society by advancing the demands, needs and capabilities of the new generation.

You are also said to have held talks with UML, right?

It is completely wrong that Janardan held talks with UML. There has been no talk with UML.
