Former Prime Minister and Chairman of Nepal Samajwadi Party (New Shakti) Baburam Bhattarai has intensified political and diplomatic meetings in Delhi. In the meeting, senior BJP leader and Defense Minister of India Rajnath Singh, former Indian ambassadors to Nepal are interested in the latest political situation in Nepal, he informed.

They told Kantipur that even though they were curious about the coming of a monarchy in Nepal, it was not possible. A brief conversation with Kantipur Ganga BC about his private visit to India:

You have intensified political, diplomatic meetings in Delhi, what was the conversation?

I mainly came to India for the convention of our party's Progressive Nepali Society . After the conference, a political and diplomatic meeting was held on Monday. The parties in power in Delhi, policy makers and journalists interacted. Politicians and diplomats here why instability in Nepal? What is the reason for that? Are you going to go against democracy somewhere? It is a curiosity. I am not going to go against the Federal Democratic Republic. Especially due to the errors in the electoral system and government system, some instability has been observed. Monarchy is not going to return in opposition to this system . They have a curiosity that the monarchy is about to return to Nepal. I have some displeasure in common people . He held the view that it should be addressed and thought in a forward-looking manner.

What happened to the relationship between the two countries?

Currently, there is some coldness in Nepal-India relations. Indian politicians, diplomats and foreign experts were curious about how to solve it. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh was also interested in how to solve the problem between the two countries. We had an open discussion about this. I emphasized that the Prime Ministers of the two countries will solve the problem through open dialogue. There was almost the same opinion that only if Nepal-India relations were strong, economic cooperation would be good. In the discussion with the BJP leaders, I suggested that it would be better to proceed based on the EPG report, but the BJP leaders said that it is not possible to proceed through the EPG report. This report is not for implementation. If so, it is appropriate to have an open conversation at the Prime Minister's level. The emphasis of all was to solve the border problem between Nepal and India, the treaty of 1950, etc. at the diplomatic level.

How have Indian leaders viewed the political situation in Nepal?

There is a suspicion that the democratic republican system is about to collapse in Nepal. I openly asked whether the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) helped to bring monarchy in Nepal. But BJP leaders made it clear that it is not. I made it clear that the anger in Nepal is not related to the destruction of the old system but to governance and economic issues. The former ambassadors of India to Nepal, foreign experts had a good review about the relationship between the two countries. They have a deep interest in Nepal. I emphasized that this system should be reformed and moved forward in Nepal.

Did you also get some interest about the Hindu kingdom of Nepal ?

BJP's Murali Mohan Joshi, Bhagatsingh Kosyari were interested in whether cultural uniformity in Nepal would be good. But I have my own opinion on religion and culture. Holding Hinduism is a matter of faith. Monarchy is an anti-democratic system. I emphasized that it is not possible to come to Nepal.
