'Nepathya', a band active in the field of Nepali music since the 90s, is currently busy in various cities in Australia. Amrit Gurung, the lead singer of the band, is not only adept at creating new songs and music, but he is also adept at creating different songs by finding new phrases. Narayan Khadka of Kantipur had a conversation with Gurung who was on a trip to Australia:

What did Nepathya find during the musical tour in Australia?
We are getting the love, respect and sincerity that musicians should get . We are among the lucky ones. What can be greater than the love, hospitality and respect given by the people here!

The new generation born in Australia may have come to listen to your songs. How did it feel to see them? Looking from the
stage, all 20-25-year-old viewers are seen . And I think, oh how fast time has flown . I feel like I'm getting old. Seeing their enthusiasm, vigor and participation, it seems that they have done a good job in life. Everyone involved seems to be happy . What is greater than making people happy ! The combination between the artist and the audience standing on the stage becomes so interesting that it is heartwarming to see.

Do you think that the generations of Nepali origin born abroad like Australia can be connoisseurs of Nepali music?
It depends on the parent and the child. For this, the home environment is the main thing . What is the opinion of the family towards Nepali language, how much they are connected and familiar with Nepal makes sense. If they know their language, country, culture, nature and society, they will love their place! Even if you can't stay in that place later, your love will be there. The main thing for everyone is language and culture. The music we present here seems to connect with Nepal. He erases his hatred towards his motherland, thatthalo and connects with his country . I will retire from music only after I die: Amrit Gurung [Interview] You came to Australia 5 times during your musical tour and your popularity is still the same . Who do you attribute this to?
Its credit is due to Nepali song music. You may have liked it because of Nepali folk music, words, instruments and Nepaliness. It seems that it is because the songs with Nepaliness and Nepali heart are created more than the language .

The financial thing is happening . What's the best part about doing a concert abroad?
The first thing is to sit in a hall with the audience and entertain each other through music. A memoir and memory with the audience and the artist is the important part . The program held abroad is not only entertainment but also gives a different experience of memorable gatherings to both the audience and the artists.

Your musical contemporaries are not as active and popular in the music industry now, but your craze and music popularity still seems to be the same. How is this ?
That was a matter of good faith of the audience . They liked it and we got a chance to sing the song . We were able to do the program and meet because they liked and invited us. We were a bit disciplined, sadhana, hardworking  I will retire from music only after I die: Amrit Gurung [Interview] During the conflict, there was a situation where 10 people could not gather. There was a world of guns - on one side of the rebels, on the other side of the state . At that time, the education sector was the most persecuted. We started the 'Education for Peace' program to ensure the future of the students. That will also have some effect . It made us think that they not only sing but also have a bit more social consciousness. Now the students of that time are in different fields,  You still love that they did such a thing at that time!

Not only Nepalese but also others came to Australia to listen to folk songs in Nepathya's music. What might have attracted those who do not understand Nepali?
lyrics have no language . Songs are sung in different languages all over the world and all have different significance and impact. I also had the opportunity to speak to some of the audience. It is their response that sounds different and separate from the Nepali folk language. Your music sounds different, folk language and folk music are different from other music and they say they come from . It is the difference in music that attracts all kinds of audience. As our folk language and music are also different according to the place, the different songs attract everyone .

What else is there to find in Nepali music? Finding a
can never be done . Today, technology and social media have made it easy for everyone, but the things that need to be searched for in the relevant places are not found on social media . Music is art and creation. It doesn't matter where and how it comes out in what mood. Studying makes scholars and wise but finding new things requires hard work.  I will retire from music only after I die: Amrit Gurung [Interview] How long can Amrit Gurung be seen like this in front of thousands of viewers? Have you made any plans for your retirement?
Personal discipline is very important. You should stay away from things that affect your daily life and health. I am disciplined in many things . I will be in this area as long as my health supports me. I myself am thinking of traveling to keep myself healthy and fitter . I am really preparing for 'Inner Engineering'. I am not planning to retire from music . I will only retire from music when I die . If I can't sing, I write, if I can't write, I make . But I will give my life to music. One way or another I will enjoy and enjoy music until I leave the world .
