The shortlist for the selection of vice-chancellors in 8 universities has been made public.

The committee formed to recommend the vice-chancellors made the list public on Friday.

A shortlist of 10 people was made public for Tribhuvan University, Pokhara University, Purbanchal University, University of Agriculture and Forestry, Madhya Paschim University, Sudurpaschim University and Rajarshi Janak University, while a shortlist of 7 people was made public for Lumbini Buddhist University due to the low number of applicants.

Here is the shortlist:

The government had called for online applications for the post of vice-chancellors of those universities on 25 Baisakh. The Ministry of Education and Sports had stated that 218 people had applied for the post of vice-chancellor. The committee had issued the procedure for selecting the vice-chancellors during the application process. In which, it is mentioned that a shortlist will be prepared after evaluating personal details in 35 integers. Out of the total 100 integers, the remaining 65 integers are mentioned in the procedure for recommending the candidate on the basis of merit after conducting an interview and conducting a presentation. After the government through an ordinance revoked the appointments of about 1,500 people appointed by the previous government, there are vacancies in all universities, including the vice-chancellor. Chancellor and Prime Minister Balendra Shah has given the dean and senior-most professors the responsibility of acting in the vacant positions.
