A total of 23,459 students have participated in the preliminary examination (first paper) conducted by the Public Service Commission for 189 Branch Officer (Non-Technical) posts in the Civil Service.

According to the commission, a total of 27,017 students had applied for the preliminary examination for the civil service towards foreign administration, audit, federal parliament and revenue service. Of these, 23,459 or 86.48 percent of the students participated in the examination. 

The commission stated that 11,644 (89.70 percent) of the participants were present within the Kathmandu Valley and 11,815 (84.16 percent) outside the valley. The commission issued a press release stating that the examination was successfully conducted simultaneously across the country on Saturday.

Joint Secretary and Spokesperson of the Public Service Commission Purushottam Sharma informed that the examination was conducted with enthusiastic participation. According to him, the target is to check the answer sheets using Optical Mark Reader (OMR) technology and publish the results within 15 days.

As per its annual schedule, the commission had published an advertisement on the last Wednesday of last month and called for applications in the open and inclusive group towards the civil service. The commission has stated that students will be allowed to take the next round of exams only after passing the first paper.
