Yubaraj Sharma has been elected as the president of the Higher Education and Secondary Schools Association of Nepal (HISAN). Sharma won by securing 160 votes from the ninth general convention of HISAN held on Saturday.
The election committee has stated that the candidate Lok Bahadur Bhandari received 106 votes. Earlier, when Ramesh Silwal was the president, Sharma was the senior vice-president and Bhandari was the general secretary. Tankaraj Acharya and Swagat Shrestha have won the vice-president position. They were elected after a 5-person election contest.
Hisan has stated that Ramhari Silwal won the general secretary position by getting 148 votes. His opponent Jayaram Khanal received 118 votes. RB Adhikari, Rishi Tiwari, Dolraj Pandey, Dharanidhar Adhikari, Narendra Bahadur Adhikari, Mukunda Ghimire, Rajendra Adhikari, Birendra Jayana Shrestha, Bishnu Raj Poudel, Suman Gopal Acharya, Harindra Lamichhane were elected unopposed as vice-presidents.
Krishna Prasad Poudel, Jeevan Lama Gole, Paras Shrestha, Bhawani Prasad Poudel, Yam Bahadur Roka, Rojash Karki and Balram Pant have won the secretary positions.
There were 9 candidates in the race for 7 secretaries. Shiva Prasad Adhikari is unopposed as treasurer. Elections were also held for the post of member. There is a provision for a 67-member central committee of Hisan.
