Minister for Education, Science and Technology Mahabir Pun has urged local levels to form management committees in schools. Education Minister Pun has also warned that schools that do not form management committees will be denied federal grants.

He said that the names of local levels and schools that have not formed a management committee are being collected. ‘There are also municipalities that operate schools arbitrarily without forming a school management committee. Such municipalities have been issued a notice to immediately form a committee as per the rules. Otherwise, the federal grant coming to the schools of such municipalities will be stopped,’ Minister Pun wrote on social media, ‘The names of such municipalities are being collected. Victim parents can also provide information.’

The Education Act has made provision for a management committee in schools. There are complaints that some local levels have done it arbitrarily in forming a management committee. After some local levels arranged for the ward chairperson to be the chairman of the management committee, even the Supreme Court has ordered them not to do so.
