A revolving fund of Rs. 1.8 million has been created at Tileshwor Secondary School, Teliya, Chhathar Jorpati-4, on the initiative of alumni, teachers, and social leaders.
Former teachers, students and social leaders who studied and taught at the school at various times have donated cash and land for the school. Ganga Tamang, principal of Tileshwor Secondary School, informed that those born in the former Teliya and Tankhuwa VDCs and who have migrated to various places for business and employment have also contributed to the school's revolving fund.
The Rayamajhi family of Piple, then Teliya VDC, has provided the highest amount of Rs 1 million for the revolving fund operated by the school. Tekendra, Chhatra, Mahendra, Gyanendra Keshav, Tirtha and Pradeep Rayamajhi have set up a scholarship fund of Rs 1 million in memory of their parents Tulsi Bahadur and Gokul Kumari Rayamajhi. From the interest earned from this, the school has been providing Rs 22,000 as an incentive to the best students in class 10 every year on the occasion of its anniversary.
Similarly, Shankar Adhikari has provided Rs 500,000 to the Chanda Gajendra Scholarship Fund. The interest of Rs 30,000 annually from this amount is being distributed to the poor, needy, talented and disabled students studying in the school. The interest from the Bam Bahadur Lilamaya Thapa Scholarship Fund of Rs 246,000 is being used to provide educational materials to children up to grade 5, said Tamang, the principal of Tileshwor Secondary School.
Former teacher Dharmadhwaj Limbu has also provided Rs 50,000 to the Ramadevi Scholarship Endowment Fund. Tamang said that a permanent fund of Rs 2.79 million has been prepared by including five donors and the school's accumulated fund.
Tamang expressed happiness saying that the locals, who were born in remote areas and have reached various places in the course of their profession and business, have remembered the old school. The school celebrated its 74th anniversary on Mangsir 8. School Management Committee Chairman Tek Bahadur Tamang informed that scholarships were given to students and felicitations were given to donors on the occasion of the anniversary.
