Nepal Educational Consultancy Association (ECAN) Kaski branch organized the 'Eighth ECAN Education Fair' in Pokhara. The fair, which started under the main sponsorship of Times Educational Consultancy, saw enthusiastic participation of students and parents.
Inaugurating the fair, Minister of Social Development of Gandaki Province Vindukumar Thapa said that ICAN has done an important job of connecting students with prestigious educational institutions of the world. He informed that the government is working to ensure a comfortable and safe environment for students who want to study abroad.
Omprakash Gayre, president of Ican Kaski, expressed his happiness that the fair, which was stopped due to the covid epidemic, was able to continue. He Pointing out the fact that students are forced to go abroad due to the lack of good education and employment opportunities in the country, he said that his aim is to give truthful counseling to students.
Rajendra Baral, president of the Federation of Nepal Educational Consultancy Professionals, said that such activities, which started only in Kathmandu, are now taking place in various provinces and districts as well.
Speaking about the guidelines made by the Gandaki provincial government, he opined that the law will be strengthened only if the stakeholders are discussed while making the policy.
Central President of ICAN, Sesharaj Bhattarai, while celebrating the 29th Foundation Day in Kathmandu, said that ICAN not only enrolls students in the best colleges abroad, but also tries to bring them back to the development process of Nepal. He suggested that a separate law should be made for the field of educational counseling and discussions should be held with stakeholders while formulating policies. He also said that the private sector and counseling centers can help to make Pokhara a 'hub' of education.
Prakash Pandey, the outgoing president of ECAN, mentioned that ECAN Fair in Pokhara has been established as a major destination to provide all information about career counseling, admission and visa process. He said, 'The two-day fair will help the situation of having to go to different counseling centers.'
Deepak Gurung, former central president of ICAN, urged students to apply only from counseling centers that are members of ICAN, and said that ICAN will help if there is any problem.
Bhuwan Bahadur Chhetri, Central Vice President of ECAN, informed that currently 720 counseling centers are listed in the Ministry of Education across Nepal and said that reliable services can be taken from those institutions. "The members of ICAN are not only sending students abroad but also conducting a campaign to bring them back to Nepal after their studies," he said. He urged the students, parents and other stakeholders to benefit from the fair to be held in the presence of excellent consultants.
ICAN has organized the fair with permission from the Educational Consulting and Certification Branch of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Government of Nepal. Organizers say that this is the largest educational fair in Gandaki province. There are 65 stalls in the
fair with representatives of colleges, universities and ECAN member organizations from America, Australia, Canada, and the UK. The fair will continue till Saturday.
