The best teachers of all the seven provinces who have contributed to improving the quality of public schools were awarded and honored on Friday.

The expert group invited applications and awarded 7 teachers with cash from the competition. In which Keshavraj Kattel, teacher of Fikkal Mavi Ilam, Jitendra Ram of Aziz Mian Mavi Parsa, Apsarakumari Ghimire of Jan Uddar Mavi Kathmandu, Vishnu Ghimire of Radha Mavi Tanahun, Prabhat Subedi of Radhakrishna Tharu Mavi Bardiya, Devendra Timilsina Upadhyay of Karnali Secondary School Jumla and Prajapati Prajapati Hem Raj Bista of Dhangadhi Model Technical School Kailali were awarded. (PP) Prasai Foundation said. The former vice-chancellor of Tribhuvan University and educationist Kedarbhakta Mathema felicitated the awardees.

Devi Basic School located in Suryavinayak, Bhaktapur has received an excellent incentive award of 1 lakh. The organizer said that the community school that has been trying to improve has been rewarded. Similarly, former secretary Dipendrapurush Dhakal was also honored. Shikhar Prasai, the foundation's president, honored Dhakal with the PP Prasai Tourism Lifetime Achievement Award 2025 for his contribution to the tourism sector.

Applications were requested for selecting the best schools from all over the country. An expert team led by Dhananjaya Sharma, former principal of Gyanodaya Mavi Kathmandu, evaluated the applications and selected the awardees. "Teachers have been selected on the basis of their teaching style, encouragement in learning, relationship with parents and community, dedication to the profession, student's learning achievement, local, parents and community recommendations," said Sharma. According to the foundation, educational materials worth 50,000 each were distributed to

awardees and 10,000 worth of educational materials were distributed to the schools where they were teaching. The foundation has been established in honor of the late tourism businessman Prajapati Prasai and the best teachers have been honored since the past. Speaking at the honor program, educationist Mathema said that teachers should be given high respect and should be deprived of political involvement.
