The Nepal Teachers' Federation has started a nationwide movement saying that their demands have not been addressed in the School Education Bill 2080.

On Monday, the Federation submitted a letter of attention to the Prime Minister, the Minister of Education and the Chief Whip of the political parties. Laxmikishore Subedi, the president of the federation, informed that the attention letter has been submitted as part of the first phase of the movement.

CPN-UML Parliamentary Party chief whip Mahesh Bertaula urged the protesting teachers to welcome them as there are good things in the School Education Act.

He said that many demands of the teachers have been met and some demands are yet to be addressed, so they will be addressed in the coming days. He also asked the government to follow the agreement reached with the teachers. He says that the government can move forward by addressing the demands of the teachers without putting a huge financial burden on the government.

He said, 'Especially in the bill related to school education, what they expected was that the government should implement the agreements and agreements made at various times in the past, and that the bill should be made accordingly. But there have been many attempts to address everything as they said. And many issues have been addressed in the school education bill.

Nepali Congress National Assembly chief whip Krishna Bahadur Rokaye said that it is important to come up with the education bill now.

Pointing out that school education act, federal civil act and police act are necessary to implement federalism, he said that this bill is important. He said that the bill is not irreversible, it can be amended if problems are found during practice.

He said, 'No bill is irreversible. It will not come only once. While practicing, wherever there is a problem, which is necessary, it can be revised again.

Nepal Teachers' Federation has stated that the school education bill has weakened the services and facilities, stability and rights of teachers.

The month-long teachers' movement was suspended after agreeing on 9 points. But President Subedi said that the federation started protesting again because the agreement was not implemented in the bill submitted to the House of Representatives on August 6.

Federation has opposed the implementation of agreements with the government in 2075, 2078, 2080 and 2081/82, 75% internal and 25% open positions for temporary teachers (instead of the current 60%-40%), periodic promotions, renewal of expired teaching licenses, salaries and positions of school employees, services of kindergarten teachers, security of teachers in institutional schools, gratuity for conflict-affected teachers and transfer of teacher positions to the local level.
