The third edition of 'iLab' has started in collaboration with Kathmandu University School of Education (KUSOD) and ETH Zurich to improve the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector in Nepal.

This program, which was started in 2023 with the technical support of the Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC), aims to identify policy and practical challenges and emphasize their implementation.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Achyut Wagle said that prosperity is possible only with respect for labor. Kusod Dean Prof. Dr. Balchandra Luintel opined that the slogan 'reading and earning' should be put into practice. In the

program, the chief researcher of iLab Prof. Dr. Maheshnath Parajuli said that iLab was developed as a platform to show work and not just discussion. Pankaj Parajuli, program officer of SDC, mentioned that iLab is becoming useful for increasing TVET effectiveness at the local level.

Baikunth Aryal, joint secretary of the Ministry of Education, said that the TVET system should be strengthened to make the indigenous labor force skilled. CTEVT Director Pramodabhakta Acharya informed that industrial trainee concept has been given priority.

Gokarneshwar Mayor Deepak Risal said that the 'Mission Jobs' program has been implemented to promote entrepreneurship. Binda Acharya, director of the National Institute of Vocational Training, attributed the failure of productivity growth to the low priority given to practical education. Under

iLab, 6-8 member groups will compete and implement the best plan. The program is expected to bridge the gap between policy and practice.
