The government has announced that it will increase the number of seats for students enrolled in engineering, information technology and nursing, including medicine. Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel while presenting the budget for the next financial year in Parliament on Thursday said that the number of seats for students in these areas will be increased.
Finance Minister Paudel said that the study quota will be increased by revising the existing standards in order to prevent shortage of manpower in medicine, engineering, nursing, information technology, etc. According to the reforms of the high-level economic reform task force, the budget mentions that the scholarships being provided in medical education will be targeted at poor students and students from very remote areas.
56 crores have been allocated to advance the infrastructure of under-construction and proposed medical colleges in Bardibas, Butwal, Surkhet, Dadeldhura. Madan Bhandari Technical, Yogamaya Ayurvedic University and infrastructure will be built and Shahid Dasharashchandra Medical University will be run, the government has announced.
